Well, it's that time again, when my landlord whines at how little I pay compared to everyone else, because I moved in during a major re-construction discount event, and haven't moved since they raised all the base rents, post-construction. I managed to talk her down by twenty, I thought, but then she mentions that starting this lease (and should have last lease, of course, boo hoo for her reports) there will be a ten buck gas fee.


You think this seems kind of trivial, but you've got to understand,

1. I was raised by a man who believes saving 10-per-cent on groceries justifies destroying the market he admits he likes better.

2. The twenty I thought I had saved, would have kept me at a rent increase equal to only 150-per-cent of this year's raise...
