I did buy a used Imac the other day, managed to get OSX installed, despite apple's best efforts to provide useless error messages and zero debugging info in their docs. When the installer says, "can't boot from drive2", it doesn't mean booting from drive 2 isn't possible, it means you have to set drive 2 to be boot drive manually, and ignore the supposedly user-friendly installer they provide. alrighty.
