I got my first truly public accolade of my professional career today. Which is odd 'cause the project that recognized me at their launch party, I did all of 15-20 mins of basic html for, plus some generalized guidance on platform and candidate qualifications for the lead dev position. The guy wanted to pay me, but I just didn't feel like I'd done enough to justify it. I got some free food tonight, and the recognition, and I'm pretty pleased, really.

It's funny; chances are you are reading this on a machine built by a program I wrote, communicating over a network that contains technology I developed, with a browser once maintained by one of my best friends , and yet the fact that 30 complete strangers saw some guy call out my name in his presentation, means more, emotionally.
