The truth group is in an interesting position. They seem amazingly self-righteous for the only people who aren't lawyers, that directly benefit from the deaths of smokers.
The tobacco companies, whom they mostly rightly vilify, have no vested interest in the death of their customers. But every time someone died of smoking over the last 50 years, truth inc. benefited in the final settlement.
Makes me think about the old libertarian rant against welfare, which basically runs that it's not in the interest of the welfare caseworker to truly help anyone, since they only have a job as long as there are poor people in need of their services...
